Why 'Liking' Facebook Virals Makes Scammers Rich...

Facebook users who've clicked viral links such as 'Click This if You Hate Cancer' could be in for a nasty surprise.

The links - and others such as 'click this picture and see what happens' do nothing except make cyber-scammers rich.

Once the pages have collected huge numbers of 'Likes', they are then sold, for cash, to other businesses who use them to make their page appear popular.

A blog post by Daylan Pearce, a search-engine expert at Next Digital in Melbourne, explains how the nonsense posts scam works - and shows how the pages are sold on.

The posts - images with captions such as 'Like if you can see the tiger,' or 'Comment and see what happens' are used to build 'Likes' and 'Comments' for pages.

Once a page has collected thousands of likes and comments, it will appear higher in people's News Feeds on Facebook - 'Likes' are the 'currency' of the site, as it were.

Pages with 100,000 likes can be sold for $200, according to adverts unearthed by Pearce.

Pearce explains in a blog post, 'The Facebook Like algorithm is Facebook’s way of dictating if content is of any value to users. The more likes/shares/comments it gets, the more exposure to certain people it, and the profile it belongs to, will get both short term and long term.

'All these metrics contribute to a users ‘edge rank’ – the score your profile is given that dictates how your page interacts with other profiles on Facebook. '

David Emm, senior security research at Kaspersky Lab, says, 'Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are increasingly becoming targets for cybercriminals.

'The main reason for this is the trust that people feel whilst socialising with their friends online. People are much more likely to click on a link shared by a friend, and this inherent trust is something cybercriminals prey upon.'

'Over the past 10 years, we’ve seen incredible growth in the amount of personal information people will voluntarily share, and cybercriminals have naturally ‘followed the money’ by creating scams specifically targeting social networks.'

Lose Weight Or Gain Weight But Do It Right...

Hi my name is Dennis. I set this blog up to share the interesting things that I find online from time to time. Some of these things may be just something to read or to look at. Some of these are for selling as well. But lately I've been thinking about how many of us are not healthy. And yeah I'm one of them. You see I spent a lot of time driving professionally. In that time I went from over weight (fat) to obese. I need to lose 105 pounds. I really don't know why they call over weight people healthy. They are not healthy, I won't go into all the medical reasons why or any of that. Healthy people don't look like me.

So I made up my mind to not be fat. It's taking some time and it'll take a lot more but I didn't get this way over night. It didn't happen overnight and it'll take even more time to undo all the unhealthy things that I've done to myself. I had to learn about eating better foods. Healthy foods will help you and me to get back to being healthy. Just what is healthy and how do we incorporate this into our lives?? Websters says; healthy implies full strength and vigor as well as freedom from signs of disease. I'm over weight and I show signs of disease. High blood pressure shortness of breath hurting knees and ankles. I know I hear mine shout “sit down your killing us”.

So good health is the goal. Okay cool so how do we get there?? It's not going to be easy. I have looked all over the internet to find some way to get busy eating right and doing exercise. These days it's not easy doing any of this. We are all so busy living life and taking care of family we neglect ourselves. I know why I don't and you know why you don't. So it's time to make a deal with ourselves. A deal we can live with and live by. 24 hour's in the day yes?? Okay then starting with rest, how much do you get and are you getting to a deep sleep?? We have all heard what the benefits are for getting that deep, gonna dream sleep. Starting with sleep take a look at what time you go to bed. Then look at what time you get up to start your day. How many hours?? Now then some of you are moms and some are dads some are alone some have kids and some have pets. Your taking care of a lot of different things throughout the day. Is it going to keep you til lunch and is it healthy?? and what about lunch, what is it and how healthy is it for you, will it give you energy for the rest of the day or only for 2 to 3 hours?? Now it's time to get home and get dinner on the table. After a long day you just want to rush dinner so you can relax right?? Now you've eaten and showered and your relaxing. You don't feel like doing anything now but maybe some TV or some game on the computer maybe read a good book. Before you know it it's almost midnight and you need to try to get to sleep.

You look back on the day and you've done a lot but you haven't done for yourself. Pretty bad huh?? So it's time to change all that and start on a schedual that will help you lose weight get exercise get rest and feel great and feel good about yourself. Tip #1: Control Your Liquid Calories

When we think about cutting the fat on our bellies, the first thing that comes to our mind is cutting down on solid food. But one thing that most guys don’t take into account is the amount of LIQUID calories they consume.

These liquid calories are typically totally empty of nutrition, and they can really add up fast. If you’ve been trying to lose weight but haven’t been successful, liquid calories could be the reason why.

Think about it: a soda of the size typically served at restaurants has about 480 calories, all pure sugar.

And the average twelve ounce bottle of beer has about 160 calories. How easy is it to drink 5 or 6 beers without even thinking about it...that’s a huge amount of empty calories which go straight to your gut.

Before you even start worrying about changing what you’re eating, start paying attention to what you’re DRINKING. This means:

- Drinking tea, water, or even diet soda in place of regular soda

- Replacing beer or sugary alcoholic drinks with healthier alternatives, such as a vodka tonic

- Avoiding excess consumption of sugary juices, even though they’re marketed as “healthy”

Tip #2: Boost Your Metabolism BEFORE Trying To Lose Weight

Another thing that will make weight loss MUCH easier for you is boosting your metabolism BEFORE you try and lose weight.

If your metabolism is low, weight loss is going to be incredibly difficult. You’ll have to eat incredibly tiny portions of food every day, and even if you’re exercising all the time you will still have difficulty losing weight.

Your metabolism is the most important factor in your weight loss, bar none. An extremely hard cardio workout might burn 300 calories at the most...but your metabolism will burn between 1500-3000 calories, EVERY SINGLE DAY, WHETHER YOU WORK OUT ON THAT DAY OR NOT.

It’s BY FAR the most important factor – you will easily burn 20x more calories through your metabolism than through exercise directly.

So...you’re probably wondering, HOW do I boost my metabolism?

The best way to boost your metabolism is to gain lean body mass (muscle). This muscle will require energy every day to maintain itself, whether you work out on that day or not. This is what will jack your metabolism up, and make fat loss possible.

Back when I used to weight about 160 flabby pounds, I would eat about 1500 calories a day. It sucked – I felt like I was always starving, and I STILL didn’t lose any fat.

Now that I weigh 205 lbs. and I have much more muscle mass, I purposely eat over 3000 calories per day, EVERY DAY. I never gain any weight, because of my increased metabolism.

So if you want to lose weight, first focus on increasing your metabolism through building muscle.

Tip #3: Follow A Nutrition PLAN

Another huge mistake a lot of guys make is that they have no unified plan for their eating. They just try and follow whatever random tips they read off the internet whenever they remember them, and just hope things work out.

The reality is, things never work out when you do them this way. If you don’t have a plan, then you’ll end up eating the wrong foods and you will just gain more fat on your stomach.

now all Smokey has to do is find all the environmentalists and kick their asses for not leting the Forest Service do their job's thining the overgrowth and the trees growing to close together. These damn wild fires burn out of control because these idiots r telling the government that it's not good to thin out all this brush and trees, they say it's killing animal habitat and other stupid bull shit like that. Well just how much damage does a fire do n how many animals lose their lives in these fires people lose their homes. If this shit keeps up we're not going to have a Froest or oxigen to breath. environmentalists need to be out lawed and or shot on sight... back when I worked for the Forest Service we could get a handle on a fire real quick, but we thined and cut brush n put it in piles to burn when the snows came, can't do that anymore, they won't let u cut down all those lightning rods called snaggs (dead standing trees) n thats a fire danger also, people need to speak up cuz it's true only u can prevent wild fires by telling the government to go back to proper Forest Service...when u see a wild fire this fire season, n u will thank an environmentalist, or kick their ass...this has been my personal rant...

Gun Owners Beware! Sneaky Medical Questions and YOUR Answers Can Have Devastating Consequences!

Do you have a gun in your House? 


What you permit, you promote. 


When I had my gangrene gallbladder taken out and spent 10 days in the hospital for what should have been an overnight stay the insurance company kicked me out. 


I had home nurse visits for two weeks and was asked if I had guns in the house. 


I respond that if I did I would not tell them. So the below has some merit. 


FYI, I am passing this along...there are comments from two other people I have also been asked if we keep guns in the house. The nurse just kinda slipped it in along with all the other regular questions. I told her I refused to answer because it was against the law to ask. 


Everyone, whether you have guns or not, should give a neutral answer so they have no idea who does and who doesn't. My doctor asked me if I had guns in my house and also if any were loaded. I, of course, answered yes to both questions. 
Then he asked why I kept a loaded gun close to my bed. I answered that my son, who is a certified gun instructor and also works for Homeland Security, advised me that an unloaded, locked up gun is no protection against criminal attack. 


The Government now requires these questions be asked of people on Medicare, and probably everyone else. 


Just passing this along for your information: I had to visit a doctor other than my regular doctor when my doctor was on vacation.. One of the questions on the form I had to fill out was: Do you have any guns in your house?? My answer was None of your damn business!! 


So it is out there! It is either an insurance issue or government intervention. 


Either way, it is out there and the second the government gets into your medical records (as they want to under Obamacare) it will become a major issue and will ultimately result in lock and load!!

While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions: 


1. Did I feel stressed? 
2. Did I feel threatened? 
3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone? 


The nurse then informed me, that if I had answered "Yes" to any of the questions, I would have LOST my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security. 


Looks like they are going after the vets first. Other gun people like retired law enforcement will probably be next. Then when they go after the civilians, what argument will they have? Be forewarned and be aware. The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun owners potential terrorists. Whether you are a gun owner, veteran or not, YOU"VE BEEN WARNED !

Beware - Gas Stations Cheating At Gas Pumps - Check Your Receipt!

CHEATING at the gas pumps (PRINT OUT YOUR RECEIPTS!!!) 

This email was sent to me by a friend whose cousin is the LA fire captain. 

This is true. It happened to them three weeks ago somewhere in Pomona on our way to Pechanga. The pump should have totaled @ $68.00 (and change). When the receipt was printed, and she checked it was $77.00 (and change). 

She got mad, went inside the store, asked for a calculator and let them do the math. They refunded her. she told them that if they cheat, they had better make it right. Normally, her husband would skip printing the receipt. Not her! 

We saw on the news the other night that this is 
happening everywhere. 

Brian pumped exactly one gallon of gas. The price did not match the cost of one gallon. It was higher.. He went inside and complained, got a refund. 

There is also a number on each pump that you can call and complain. 

This is a true story, so read it carefully. 

On April 24, 2008, I stopped at a BP gas station in GA. My truck's gas gauge was on1/4 of a tank. I use the mid-grade, which was priced at $3.71 per gallon. When my tank is at this point, it takes somewhere around 14 gallons to fill it up. 

When the pump showed 14 gallons had been pumped, I began to slow it down. Then, to my surprise, it went to 15, then 16. I even looked under my truck to see if it was being spilled. It was not. 

Then it showed 17 gallons on the pump. It stopped at 18 gallons. This was very strange to me, since my truck has only an 18 gallon tank. I went on my way a little confused, then on the evening news I heard a report that 1 out of 4 gas stations had calibrated their pumps to show more gas had been pumped than a person actually got. 

Here is how to check a pumpto see if you are getting the right amount: 

Whichever grade you are using, put 10 GALLONS in your tank, then look at the dollar amount. If the dollar amount is not EXACTLY 10 times the price of the fuel you have chosen, then the pumps are rigged. 

In my case, as I said, the mid-grade was $3.71 9/10 per gallon; my dollar amount for 10 gallons should have been $37.19. I wish I had checked the pump. It doesn't matter where you pump gas please check the 10 gallon price.If you do find a station that is cheating, contact the state Agriculture Department, and direct your comments to the Commissioner - the information is on the gas pumps. 


Please don't delete this until you have sent it to all people in your address book. We need to put a stop to this outrageous cheating of customers. The gas companies are making enough profits at honest rates.

That's what I want to know. I know your wondering what am I going on about? Well it's just that I have been looking for a way to make some good money online for some time now.
